WDC World Championships Tokyo/Japan 2025 ✨

What a fantastic experience that was ! Last weekend the WDC Professional Latin/Ballroom World Championships took place at the Makuhari Messe Stadium in Chiba City Japan. It was truly fascinating to witness a sold out stadium with 5,500 people coming to support and watch ballroom dancing

It’s been over 40 years ago that Japan hosted a magnificent double World Championships.

(Some of the adjudicators present today actually took part as competitors in this historic event back then ; and today , so many years later the are adjudicating and contributing to the history in a different role).

The JBDF has put on a tremendous effort to host double World Championships on the same weekend and they have done it fabulously ! Congratulations to JBDF and WDC on this massive success, you have created beautiful memories for many dancers on those nights.

Also who has contributed to the atmosphere of the event is Mr.Christopher Hawkins who has led two nights with such joy and energy , speaking fluently in English and Japanese (fascinating!) , Your voice gave us drive to dance and created electrifying vibe in the hall, Thank you.

What has made these Worlds even more special, is the fact that the JBDF has chosen( based on the rule of WDC) the basic syllabus dance in the final : the Chacha for Latin and Tango for Ballroom . It was challenging, but very beautiful experience. We feel that it comes a time when performing basic routines is becoming a necessity for dancers . indispensably . We wish to encourage the federations /organisers to bring it to the table as obligatory condition of participation in the events. Through it we have chances to keep the traditions and beauty of ballroom/latin genre.

The Worlds in Japan has been really unique ,

It felt like a weekend of celebration of dance

We are beyond honoured to defend our title yet again for the 5th consecutive year. And now to have a right to be called 5x WDC World Pro Latin American Champions .
